A Grade Grains

Barley (Jau):

• Description: A cereal grain with a nutty flavor and chewy texture, available in hulled (whole grain) or pearled (polished) forms.
• Uses: Used in soups, stews, salads, and to make barley water for its cooling and digestive properties.

Dalia (Broken Wheat/cracked Wheat):

• Description: Wheat Kernels That Have Been Husked And Then Cracked Into Smaller Pieces.
• Uses: Used To Make Savory Porridge (Dalia Khichdi), Sweet Porridge, And In Some Savory Preparations As A Healthy Alternative To Rice.

Durum Wheat (Suji/rava - Semolina):

• Description: Coarsely Ground Wheat. Suji Is Finer, Rava Can Be Coarse Or Fine.
• Uses: Used To Make Upma, Halwa (Sweet Pudding), Dosa, Uttapam, And For Coating Fried Items.

Amaranth (Rajgira/Ramdana) - a pseudo-grain:

• Description: A gluten-free pseudo-cereal, tiny grains with a slightly nutty and earthy flavor.
• Uses: Often used during fasting periods; popped to make laddoos, used in porridges, and as flour for rotis.
